Generousity: The GIVE Principle!
For God so loved the world that he GAVE his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life – John 3:16 (Famous Sunday School Memory Verse)
Generousity is expressed in Giving and is such an important ingredient and principle of life. In fact if you consider, the people we are attracted to or wish to have in our inner circle are mostly generous people or givers. True generosity emanates or inspired by love.
So what is the GIVE Principle all about?
“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” – John Bunyan
We will examine this by looking at the acrostic of the word GIVE.
Lavish, liberal, plentiful, unselfish, giving
Generousity is about magnanimity of spirit. It speaks of abundance, and an open and free handedness. Generosity is a big part of happiness. Generous people are rarely a Grumpy and unhappy lot.
Givers are influencers. People who are generous are in a position to easily influence others, and this applies universally.
People who give smiles, cause more smiles, give laughter cause more of the same. Give money, ideas, energy… inspire more of the same in others, and command a following.
Generous people, Givers have a heart for others. They are unselfish, and its not just all about them. You could never be genuinely generous if you don’t have a heart for others. Otherwise that would be snobbery and would not be considered as generousity.
Givers add value and encourage others. This happens either through meeting needs, encouraging a free spiritedness in others or simply through the kind act of generousity. It is always inspiring and encouraging whenever we hear acts of generousity in our world. People reaching out to others, to give a helping hand or to give for a cause in a community or to assist a fellow being.
Giving is an integral part of our day to day lives, and as Winson Churchill famously said,
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
I’m convinced in my own life that Giving is indeed the Highest form of Living. We are also reminded in Scripture to ‘freely Give for we have freely received’
So practice the GIVE principle each and everyday of your life.
Wishing you a Generous Day today!
