Scars are Medals branded on the Flesh and Scars speak more loudly than the Sword that caused them. Take pride in your Scars ~Paulo Coelho ~
Genesis 19:26
The Bible describes;
But Lot’s wife looked back and she became a pillar of salt.
Moment to Reflect:
This past week I had an experience and I looked back, I looked back to a failed marriage, I looked back to my divorce and this opened a can of worms, worms of frustration and worms of being upset, I found myself back; face to face with what I thought I had detached with and what followed were salty tears.
Looking back has a way of making us bitter and looking back has a way of leaving us like statues of salt, I find the story of Lot’s wife totally intriguing and it is also interesting that the Bible advice “we should not consider the things of the past“.
What experiences have left you bitter? And what experiences have left you a pillar of salt?
I have since realized that there are two type of scars;
Those that have healed and those that are still healing.
Scars that have healed;
Are like medals because we show them, we are proud of what we have survived, these scars tell a story of a hero in us.
Scars that are still healing;
Are sensitive and even though they may look like they have healed outside, deep down they are not and often have triggers. We don’t like showing these scars and we often don’t talk much about them, if we do, we often see ourselves as “victims”, these scars somehow makes us feel powerless.
What do we know about scars;
Our bodies have the ability to heal our physical scars but it is also true with our emotional scars, YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE but healing comes through to those who are willing to be vulnerable, to open their scars, for no scars were ever totally healed while they were still wrapped in ” bandage” at some point your scar needs to be exposed to “Air”. TELL YOUR STORY and it will HEAL YOU. Healing comes through when we are willing to come face to face with the truth, the truth about ourselves and the truth that we are 100% responsible for our healing.
The hero in us, has asked for the journey and so, even if we bear the scars within, let it be proof that we are indeed heroes because we are still masters of our destiny.
Have you found the hero in you?
