Life in Abundance: We Have a Shepherd
John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
I read this verse over and over again. I couldn’t help but ponder on how greatly Jesus values us. He came so that we may have life to the fullest. And I’m very certain that He didn’t want us to have ‘bad life’, He destined amazing things out of each day of our lives.
Each day, different people have different aims and what they want to accomplish. As God’s word just said, the thief has never had any other reason to come to your house other than to cause destruction. He will attack you and leave with everything that you own, having no mercy even after hurting you. The same way a teacher comes to share new knowledge so that you and I can learn. The teacher does not come to class to read news or even carry out various businesses as it is in the market world. It has never happened that way. Jesus came for a reason too.
Therefore, when each of us dream and work to achieve our goals in life, let us know that Jesus’s goal is us. He had you in mind even when you hadn’t discovered who you are. He cared so much to give you a reason to face life. Life to its fullest. He gave His life for you even when you did not feel worthy of His love. Jesus knew that your heart would be frail at times, but He saw the strength in you. Even when you will lack direction and go the wrong way, He will send His compass for you to find your way. He will shepherd you as His own lamb and never remind you that you were once lost. How amazing.
What is left for us to do as His children is to discover the abundant life granted to us and start living it. We are His sheep and He’s is the great shepherd. He’ll never allow us to be led to the slaughter since we are hidden in Him. When the devourer comes to destroy us, He will be shred into pieces by the sword that Christ, our shepherd owns.
Today, hold on to the shepherd, because abundant life comes from Him.
