Greatest Challenge: Love For All!
He hears the cry of the broken. Our God never sleeps nor slumbers. Even when our hearts are troubled, His warm embrace will keep us firm and we will have courage to face a new day. Jesus takes care of our tomorrow.
As I recall the Kenyan terrorist attack in Garissa University, I just see through my closed eyes the pain, fear, trauma and hurt that the students must have gone through. The situation was just out of hand and the victims’ hearts are still heavy. Brokenness and tears describes it all. But all in all God hears the cry of the broken. But the main idea that hit me hard in all this is LOVE.
What must have been going through the attackers minds? Is the fear of God in them? I tend to imagine how God’s word keeps encouraging us about love for our brothers and sisters. Did they have such convictions? It’s not easy to comprehend such scenarios.
Matthew 22:39, “…love your neighbor as yourself.”
If we love our neighbors, brothers and sisters (regardless of religion, race, tribe or where they come from), I don’t think we would hurt them at all. It’s my sincere prayer that people with intentions to hurt innocent people will turn around.
John 3:15-17, “that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
I pray that the love of Christ will dwell in my heart. I challenge myself to be on the front line in showing love to ALL. Christ gave Himself for us and I ask God that I’ll give myself to help my brothers and sisters whether I know them as my friends or not. I take the challenge.
Do you take it too? Food for thought!
