Words of Life!
Words can build and they can destroy. They can set free and they can put in bondage too. What comes from within us in speech has a lot of influence in the world that we live in. We may not realize it at times but it’s actually true. When personalities like Nelson Mandela, Myles Munroe, Maya Angelou, Wangari Maathai, and many others are mentioned; what comes to our minds are the powerful words that they once spoke. Christ too is remembered for what He taught and spoke to His disciples and to us today as well.
I remember of one of my favorite songs ‘Words’. It talks of how words can drag us down to where we began or even on the other hand make us feel like a king. The moment I listen to it, a conviction comes to my heart, that the words I speak should point people back to God. My words should speak life, truth and blessings. What I say should be to mend a broken heart.
But what specific words did Jesus speak? What were His perspectives on what we speak? He would visit people and say, “your faith has made you well.” Other times He would encourage people when he said, “do not be afraid…” He spoke with authority and all that He pointed out was full of truth and life. I like it when I’m challenged to follow the example of Jesus. It’s so awesome and very profound.
Words of life are meant to put together what has been shattered. Words of life should be there to bring sunshine of hope and joy in the midst of gloom. Words of life only come from God and they are manifested through the help of the Holy Spirit.
Let our words speak life. Let our words speak hope.
Matthew 10:20, “For the words you will speak will not be yours; they will come from the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”
