The Works of The Holy Spirit
Sometimes in life we long to have an inner voice to guide us on what to do. Other times we need an assurance that what we want to try is actually right. But do you know that we have a helper? Do you know that we have a person who intercedes for us when we have nothing to say to the Father? Yes we do.
He is the Holy Spirit. He gives us the utterance, comfort and warmth in our hearts.
He puts into our hearts love, kindness, peace and other amazing fruits of patience and gentleness. May be you’ve had those encounters that you are so burning in anger that you can hardly afford a kind word. But when you pray and ask God for help, there comes tranquility and you can utter nothing else other than words that bring joy and a feeling of self-control. That’s the Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5: 22, “But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.”
The Holy Spirit was manifested in the Old Testament too. Let’s have a look at 1 Samuel 10:10. When Israel asked for a king, God, through prophet Samuel anointed Saul to be king. We see how God’s Spirit took over Saul and all the things he did later on were to glorify God. His life had been changed. Amazing, right? When the Holy Spirit takes control of us, life changes. We can’t help but paint the world with God’s goodness and love.
At times, the Holy Spirit can depart too. He departed from Saul when he disobeyed God. I can’t imagine a life with no one to guide you or even give direction when you really need it. It’s so frustrating going to the battlefield alone when there is no one to lend a hand. That’s us without the Holy Spirit. I earnestly stay hopeful that the Holy Spirit will not depart from me and that I will stay right with God. I pray that same prayer for you too.
